Heya guys,
So I've started on the character designs for the animation. They're semi-decent. I don't know what it is about drawing in Photoshop, but something always feels off. Maybe it's just technical, maybe it's just me unable to get past the awkward, ugly stage a drawing goes through before it becomes complete and beautiful. But it's always just something small that keeps tugging at the back of my mind.
But yeah, characters. I've got the mage basically done, and the knight was okay. Problem is, half way through drawing the knight on the computer I remembered that I'm going to have to draw these a ridiculous number of times, and I'm starting to question if this style was really what I wanted to use. Went back and drew some chibi versions, but the prof didn't seem to like them. Can't blame her, I don't know how much anime she's been exposed to but while they seem perfectly normal to me they might just seem weird to her.
Forgot my resume, which was me slacking to say the least. Other people's seem to be pretty solid, mine would really just have no work info relevant to the digital arts, graphic design industry. CUTCO doesn't really do that, and working as a tutor and in the bookstore don't really even put much towards my general skill set. Boy there are some things I really regret not doing when I was younger. But hey, what's past is past, and next week I'm aiming for a short (and I mean, really short) demo of what the animation might look like. And also getting these blog entries up in a timely manner, because that's another thing I've been slacking on. I blame other classes.
And until next time, see ya!

Capstone Blog: Entry 12 - Not really the end.
Hey guys,
So this is the last week we're supposed to write journal entries, but I am still so far from down with this project xD
Still have like 800 frames to go, which is over half. I really shouldn't be surprised that it got to this point considering I know how I work (procrastinate, procrastinate, panic, procrastinate some more) but I'm still a little shocked t how little the few hundred frames I have done actually mean.
Ultimately I guess the biggest thing I learned from this was how time-intensive animation is, and I really do have a new appreciate and admiration for those who do this for a living, especially at the professional level
Capstone Blog: Entry 11 - Looming Darkness
Heya guys,
Well. There's been progress. Needless to say it's been annoying. This time I decided drawing birds flapping their wings would be a good idea, because that's easy to draw right? Goddammit why am I so unexplainably attracted to wings and feathers... So I had to draw birds this week. That was fun. There was a lot of watching slow-mo videos of birds flying, and my YouTube suggestions page is just so weird right now. But I did it. I think. It looks half decent, and the lessons I learned from before were really helpful. I was at least able to avoid having to shift everything after the fact, or erase a bunch of things because I drew the

Hey guys,
Ooh boy. Not good. I was working on the animation Monday and after about 2 hours I decided it was time to rest. So I saved my work, and hit Command-Q, because short-hand. And poof. My file was gone. Literally just nowhere to be found; it was right there on the desktop and after I quit out it just disappeared. Couldn't open it in the recent files tab, couldn't find it in the trash, there were traces of it inside the Flash program, but there wasn't an actual file...
So with that file went 'round about 8 hours of work, so I spent a large portion of this week catching up to where I was last week. It's a good thing I had backed up a pr
Capstone Blog: Entry 9 - At a snail's pace
Hey guys,
God this project is going so slowly. I can't believe how little I have done in the grand scheme of things. I didn't realize it until I ran the numbers again, but I just barely have around 15 seconds of footage. Like. Holy smokes. Also, remember how I said that I would avoid drawing figures? Well, there was a joke about me drawing a 2 headed giant representing two certain someones (God forbid I name them here and they somehow stumble across it...) which... obviously involves drawing figures. And boy have they been annoying to draw.
So here's what's new: Since the city rising out of nothing last time, I've had mountains fan out behi
